Education Summary
Historica believe the performance of history makes the study of the past more accessible. Performances can operate on many levels. They can be exciting and dramatic ‘ways in’ for us to talk to people about the deeper context of historical forces and events. They can be entertaining action and adventures of bushrangers, soldiers or convicts. They can be intriguing or eerie ‘ghost walks’ of Viking raiders through the streets of Sydney.
Historica conducted the ‘Integral Energy’ Primary Schools Education Program for the 200th Anniversary commemorations. We travelled through various schools through Western Sydney with a performance of the story of Vinegar Hill by costumed interpreters. This program received tremendous acclaim from the schools.
Living History sites such as Old Sydney Town, Timbertown or Sovereign Hill Ballarat use costumed performances to enhance their visitors experiences. Historica can consult on how to make the best of these performances, through scripting, props, costume etc. Historica also provide discrete programs for Living History Museums that may add particular specialist reenactors for an anniversary event program.
Historica has also conducted several programs for Museums. We believe performance can enhance static displays and engage audiences in ways other media cannot.
